First post

So I am a little late setting all this up, but I am here now and ready to tell you about my experiences. I have been doing research at Colorado State University with Dr. Debbie Crans since June 1 and so far it has been pretty good. There were some kinks to be worked out as things get complicated when you are not involved in an REU and working at another institution. I had come out here last year on an REU and was invited back this summer to continue work on projects and to start working on some new things. I have been busy reading literature about synthesis to develop a useful methods of creating a product that we have not been able to find specifically in any literature. I have also been reading up on Dynamic Light Scattering and trying to become an expert on that instrument so that I can collect data for many of the projects currently under way in the lab. Dynamic light scattering can be used as a method of measuring the size of particles in a solution such as the size of reverse micelles in a sample. I have also been able to run some experiments on the 400mhz NMR which is pretty nice compared to our little one. It has been pretty nice out here so far the people in the lab aren't bad everyone likes to joke around and is willing to help you out if you have a question. Everyone gets to hear about each others projects and bounce ideas off each other. I should probably get back to work I'll keep you all posted with updates as much as possible.
